IDNetworks – In the basic configuration of Basic Router 4 things we need to understand are IP Address, Default Route, NAT (Network Address Translation), and DNS (Domain Name Server).
IP Address (Internet Protocol Address or often abbreviated as IP) is a series of binary numbers between 32 bits. To 128 bits that are used as identification addresses for each host computer in the Internet network. The length of this number is 32 bits (for IPv4 or IP version 4), and 128 bits (for IPv6 or IP version 6) which shows the address of the computer on a TCP / IP-based Internet network.
The default route is a route that is considered to match all the destinations. IP addresses. With the default route when the destination, the IP address of a packet is not found in the routing table. The router will use the default route to forward the packet.
NAT (Network Address Translation) is a process of mapping IP addresses where computer network devices will assign public IP addresses to local network devices so that many private IPs can access public IPs.
DNS (Domain Name Server) is a server that is used to find out the IP address of a host through its hostname. In the internet world, computers communicate with each other by recognizing their IP Address.
So 4 basic that we need to know and understand the basic configuration of the router. If we already know these 4 things regardless of the router product, such as cisco, juniper, Mikrotik, etc. we will easily configure it. It may be useful. Good luck.
